Located in Tuscany’s under-the-radar coastal area of Maremma, Castello di Vicarello has reopened its doors for the season, this time accompanied by an exciting array of property developments and a new range of thoughtful and immersive experiences. Perched on a hilltop, surrounded by gently rolling hills, the magical 12th-century castle owned by the Baccheschi-Berti family is the perfect springtime retreat away from the crowds, enabling guests to truly disconnect from everyday life.
INTRODUCING SUITE MEZZATORE
Each Suite at Castello di Vicarello has been sensitively and uniquely restored – perfectly balancing the old with the new, the contemporary with the authentic. There is no better example of this than the launch of its tenth suite, and latest accommodation offering: Suite Mezzatore. Personal and atmospheric, the new suite will occupy the entire second floor of the castle’s tower, boasting 360-degree views of the main building and the 100-acre estate beyond. A testament to the family’s keen eye for design, luxury can be found in every minute detail – from the scattering of Indonesian antiques, to the copper bathtub and yellow Sienese marble shower in the ensuite – one of the rarest, and most beautiful marbles mined in Italy. Guests can also expect their private living room to be decorated with beautiful oriental rugs, mediaeval arched windows, and provide direct access to the castle’s terrace. Suite Mezzatore can also connect to Suite Torre via a staircase, one of the property’s most prestigious suites located at the highest point of the castle, offering the perfect solution for larger families.
EMBRACE LA PRIMAVERA WITH A NEW TUSCAN ‘EXPERIENTIAL’ THREE DAY PROGRAMME
New for the season, Castello di Vicarello has launched an all-inclusive, three-day programme, intended to engage guests authentically into the ‘Vicarello’ way of life.
The kitchen is the real gathering place of the castle and the team at Castello di Vicarello follow the ‘farm to fork’ philosophy using fresh produce from its own organic garden. As part of the experiential package, guests will enjoy a cooking class with the Chef, producing authentic Italian and Tuscan dishes that hone in on seasonality and locality – from Tuscan ‘Pappa al Pomodoro’ to a delicious Tiramisù. Wine enthusiasts will delight in a tasting session led by Brando Baccheschi-Berti. With seven hectares of high-density, organically grown vineyards on the estate, producing four varieties of organic wines, guests are completely immersed in the wine experience, from grape to bottle – and the tasting will showcase the property’s awarded 4 red wines in addition to a selection of salami and cheese. As well as all meals, guests can enjoy two cocktails of their choice during ‘aperitivo time’ each night. A 50-minute personalised massage is also included. Additionally, guests who book Suite Mezzatorre, Suite Torre, Suite Spa, and Villa Chiesina can indulge in a ‘Private dinner’ – set up in a hidden corner of the Castle, which offers a surprise 4-course menu created by Executive Chef Massimiliano Volonterio.
ALFRESCO GYM AMONGST THE OLIVE TREES
Castello di Vicarello’s brand-new alfresco gym, appointed with the latest Technogym will allow guests to work out in the fresh air against the backdrop of the castle’s beautiful gardens and centuries-old olive trees, overlooking the rolling Maremma hills beyond. Wellness is intrinsic to the Vicarello way of life, and guests can alternatively opt for a relaxing hour with the on-site massage therapist, morning yoga by the marble infinity pool accompanied by scents of lavender and jasmine, or even a personal training session, specific to their fitness regime.
ABOUT CASTELLO DI VICARELLO
Complete with ten beautifully designed suites and a brand new villa expected to launch in 2025, two outdoor swimming pools, 40 hectares of private land consisting of vineyards, olive groves, farmland and forests, and an open kitchen for authentic Italian dining, Castello di Vicarello offers a relaxing holiday in exceptional surroundings. The property is able to arrange an array of additional experiences, both on and off the estate. The more energetic can horse ride, with skilled guides on hand to lead novice and experienced individuals or small groups on treks through the stunning Tuscan landscape. Alternatively, guests can embark on a 2-3 hour biking or e-biking tour with Vicarello’s knowledgeable Emiliano, who will lead guests along gentle paved roads or, for thrill seekers, a more challenging trip along rocky terrain. When not enjoying the various experiences on offer, more relaxing days can be spent simply lazing around the pool, cocktail in hand, while making the most of the total privacy, peace and tranquillity that the Castello affords.
