The sixth India International Hospitality Expo, IHE2023, was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, amid much fanfare at the India Exposition Mart Ltd. (IEML). The four-day event showcasing India’s best hospitality industry runsfrom August 2 to August 5.
The IEML Chairman, Dr. Rakesh Kumar, welcomed the Chief Minister, along with other distinguished guests, including the Chief Secretary of Himachal Pradesh, Sh. Prabodh Saxena, Chairman of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Sh. Raghubir Singh Bali, Himachal Pradesh Resident Commissioner Ms. Meera Mohanty, and others.
Dr. Kumar’s welcoming address highlighted Himachal Pradesh as a leading destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE), praising the state’s beauty and hospitality. He expressed IEML’s read IEML’s to collaborate with the Himachal Pradesh government to develop a state-of-the-art regional Centre.
During the inaugural session, Prabodh Saxena lauded the state’s effort in managing recent natural calamities, ensuring a quick return to normalcy, and highlighted the state as a tourism destination. He announced plans for developing Kangra as a MICE hub, noting that the region is safe for tourism, despite recent natural calamities affecting parts of the state.
Raghubir Singh Bali praised the state’s efforts during natural disasters and confirmed the state’s commitment to developing and expanding tourism infrastructures, investing 2,500 crore rupees in an ADB project. He also confirmed plans for a convention center, a safari zoo, hotels, spas, and wedding banquets to boost tourism.
TheChief Minister in his speech, underscored the government’s to promote green industries, with a particular focus on tourism. He mentioned efforts to develop the state’s infrastructure and introduce green energy projects.
He concluded by inviting Hospitality and Tourism industries to invest in the state, assuring them of the government’s commitment . In a symbolic gesture, Chief Minister Mr Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu declared the IHE-2023 open and released the exhibitor’s directory for the event. He also unveiled ‘The Cuisine’ of Deities,’ booklet by famous Chef Nand Lal Sharma.
The inaugural session ended with a presentation of mementos to the guests, marking a grand opening for IHE2023.
