Loganair, the UK’s largest regional airline, is celebrating the achievements of its Charter team after collecting two prestigious prizes at the 2023 Air Charter Excellence Awards.

The Air Charter Association awarded Loganair with Commercial Passenger Charter Operator of the Year and the Sir Michael Marshall Award for Sustainability in Aviation for 2023.

Held at the Double Tree Hilton in Brighton, the awards recognised the very best in charter aviation and have been running for more than three decades.

Loganair scooped Commercial Passenger Charter Operator of the Year awarded through a combination of votes from ACA members and deliberation by an industry judging panel, while the Sir Michael Marshall Sustainability in Aviation Award was given by ACA Chair, Kevin Ducksbury, who determined Loganair as an industry leader in its efforts to reach net zero.

Fiona MacLeod, Director of Charter Services, Loganair, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the Charter team, as well as the wider Loganair teams and flight crew that operate our charters every day. Our services are incredibly varied, so it takes real collective effort and hard work to deliver the exceptional customer service on which our customers depend. To be recognized by the ACA for that hard work is very special.”

Kevin Ducksbury, Chairman, ACA, said: “Winning both the best Commercial Aircraft Charter Operator Award and the ACA’s Sir Michael Marshall Award for Sustainability in Aviation is testament that Loganair is not only delivering operational excellence to our members in the charter market, but also committed to making our industry sustainable for the future. Congratulations to Loganair and all our 2023 winners.”

Loganair’s Charter operation covers a diverse range of services across the UK and Europe, from transporting energy industry workers for oil & gas operations and renewables projects, coordinating flights for elite sports teams in the world of football, rugby, or Formula 1, as well as facilitating private jet flight bookings for individual and corporate group passengers.

The services played a pivotal role in navigating the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic in helping to keep remote communities connected.  As well as helping to deliver vital NHS supplies, the Company’s aircraft were adapted from passenger to ambulance configuration to support the air ambulance service, assisting with the transfer of patients from remote areas to mainland hospitals.

With over 9,000 charter flights annually, comprising both cargo and passenger charters, Loganair’s charter operations account for over 15% of the airline’s total flight tally.
