On this 4-hour Gibraltar package you’ll start out on a dolphin cruise, in an uncrowded and friendly environment on board a yellow catamaran. Expert guides provide live commentary and a marine biologist explains everything that you’ll encounter. Learn why the dolphins do what they do and what humans need to do to protect these magnificent creatures.
Each tour takes in breathtaking views of both the African and European coastline, as well as the legendary Pillars of Hercules. The dolphins are the main event, however, and they are sighted on 99 per cent of the tours. At times, you can see pods of 40 to 500 dolphins. Watch common, striped, and bottlenose dolphins swim up to the boat and play. They sometimes put on a spectacular display of leaps and splashes right at your feet. It truly is a magical experience! Tours depart 4 times each afternoon from Marina Bay, where you can relax and soak up the Mediterranean atmosphere both before and after your trip.
One of Gibraltar’s highlights is a ride to the top of the Rock by cable car. The top station is the best place to meet the most famous residents, the Barbary apes, and to take in the spectacular area views. You’ll have a personal multi-media guide as well, that’s included in the price of your ticket. This is the perfect location to relax with a hot or cold drink and a light snack while enjoying the spectacular vistas. The Top of the Rock Souvenir Shop is also packed with unique gifts not available in town. A pack of wild apes, the famous Barbary macaques, will be waiting to give you a special performance of their entertaining acrobatics. Be sure to hide all plastic bags as they are the most opportunistic thieves you will ever meet! Enjoy their company but keep your distance, especially if there are young ones around.
The Rock itself is an impressive sight but it’s only when seen from on high that you begin to appreciate why so many have wished to conquer this small isthmus and why it has played such an important part in world history. From the terraces of the top station you can gaze down over the town below, look north towards the Sierra Nevada over the Costa del Sol, look east over the blue Mediterranean Sea, and take in the views south across the Strait of Gibraltar to the Rif Mountains of North Africa. In short, you’ll have views of 2 continents, 3 countries, and the meeting point of 2 great bodies of water!
