These beach-side workstations in Aruba are aimed at tempting digital nomadsJames Gabriel Martin
Many people around the world have made the switch to remote working as of late, with the trend showing no sign of slowing down in the years to come. With that in mind, Aruba has announced a new scheme that allows for US visitors to book a stay for up to three months and work remotely in beautiful surroundings. One hotel taking part has even unveiled a series of beach-side workstations designed to merge business and pleasure.
The One Happy Workation package offers complimentary Wi-Fi, breakfast, all-inclusive food and beverage options and access to special local experiences. Visitors can choose from any participating accommodations, ranging from small hotels to large resorts and private villas. One of the businesses taking part is Boardwalk Boutique Hotel Aruba, which has introduced working arrangements with a difference. The hotel has installed setups for guests including a beach-side desk covered by a palapa for shade and a view of the water and sand behind, and a poolside desk option that is located under palm leaves. The stations are fully equipped with Wi-Fi, a desk and chair and everything needed in order to work remotely, and are available to guests on a first-come, first-serve basis.
“The new outdoor workstations we’ve created integrate Aruba’s beautiful surroundings and nature with our guests’ needs to get some work done while enjoying their stay in Aruba,” Boardwalk Boutique Hotel Aruba Kimberly Rooijakkers said.
A number of other hotels are also onboard with the plan, including Courtyard by Marriot Aruba Resort, Divi Dutch Village Beach Resort, Amsterdam Manor and Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino.
“We recognize the desire to travel safely and have noticed a rising trend of visitors in Aruba extending their stays, so we knew the appetite for longer trips was growing. With many Americans working remotely, we curated the best workation experiences and deals to make it easier to not only work from paradise, but also experience living like a local,” Sanju Luidens, CMO of Aruba Tourism Authority. Safety requirement updates relating to COVID-19 are also posted frequently. More information on One Happy Workation package is available at Aruba.com
